After 2 years of showcasing some of the best original live music acts in Scotland, Fondoo will be hanging up the microphones and tidying away the guitars. The Final Fondoo will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday Nov 21st in the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles with the following eclectic mix of original live music. The Douglas Kay Band (Acoustic / Rock / Folk Rock)
The Douglas Kay Band, which features bassist Alex Hunter and drummer Hugh Martin, has played a series of notable gigs since then including support slots for artists such as Amy MacDonald, and the prestigious T Break Showcases. In April 2006 Douglas completed a solo US tour which stimulated interest from producers in that country.

Paul Gilbody (Acoustic / Pop / Nu-Jazz)
One of the hardest working musicians in Scotland and always in demand. Paul is the bassist for Gecko 3 but tonight brings some of his superb accoutic guitar and vocal skills to fondoo to play some of his own compositions with the help of a few friends. Reviews: "a mesmerizing set of his own funky acoustic songs" "As one of the stand out acts from the night Paul wowed the crowd with some impressive guitar work and extraordinary looping techniques, at some points you could have been forgiven for thinking there was a whole band on stage! Cafe Planeta (World / Roots /Folk) spanning from Latium in Central Italy to the Scottish Borders, that dream lives on in the form of ‘Café Planeta’, a musical collective whose appetite for good music knows no limits of sort. So welcome be thou, traveller, for no one is a stranger in our land...”
Kris Barnett (Acoustic / Blues )
The fantastic lead singer of Strange Brew will be playing his own compositions at the first fondoo on Saturday 19th January 2008.
Kris Barnett is best known locally as the flame-haired crooner with local rockers Strange Brew. However Kris' tastes in music have only recently been pushed in that direction. Kris has for some years been writing songs and then aimlessly discarding them/forgetting them/spilling drinks on them. His songs collectively defy attempts to categorise, yet individually they have very obvious roots and influences ranging from blues to jazz, punk to indie and beyond.
Tickets are £7 (£5 concessions) and the first act is on at 7.30. If you would like to recommend some acts for fondoo, please contact us. |
